Fungus. Especially if they'r getting thick and becoming yellowish in color. You can talk to your doctor about Penlac, which is an external treatment, or about oral Lamisil.
Sounds like a fungus. See a podiatrist.
fungus among us. go to doc, topical treatments may or may not work, the oral meds are expensive,but they work, and it takes about 4-6 mos to work!!

Sounds like that nail fungus...I see commercials for something that cures that but can't remember what it's called...
older people also get thicker nails too=part of life
